With Ireland prosperous and the historical adversaries of Northern Ireland tentatively embracing peace, it would be easy to forget Ireland's great heroes. They won't.

Dedicated volunteers make the Commodore John Barry Memorial Library an invaluable resource for local Irish.
This poem is from "Celtic Moods and Memories," written by Philadelphia Irish republican and Tyrone native Joseph McGarrity.
The Tyrone-born Philadelphia businessman and ardent patriot was a key player in the fight for a free Ireland.
Led by pipers playing patriotic tunes they marched to McGarrity's grave, where they laid wreaths, and vowed to continue the struggle. Their goal is the same as McGarrity's: nothing less than a nation once again.
The Philadelphia Clan-na-Gael joined with supporters from Irish Northern Aid to remember Joe McGarrity and other Irish patriots.
