"Old Days," by Joseph McGarrity

By Joseph McGarrity
We're not so old on the army list,
But we're not so young at our trade,
For we had the honor in Dublin town
Of making the guards afraid.
'Twas Connolly, Pearse, Plunkett and Ashe,
Clarke, that led us then,
And ere the war is ended
We'll fight the fight again.
The fashion's all for khaki now;
Old England's force is spent.
Her scarlet army halts and begs
That help be quickly sent.
Old days: we'll soon be fighting
Head to the storm as we faced it before.
While there are Irish there is bund to be fighting
As long as the Saxon remains on our shore.
