What are your favorite Irish love songs? Who are your favorite female performers in Irish music? What was your scariest drive in Ireland?

You can join these conversations and more with your Irish-minded friends and neighbors at BallyPhilly, the online community of irishphiladelphia.com. Why, you can almost smell the peat smoke! (Bonus: It never rains.)

This is no stupid bloody chat room. It’s not one of those dopey, anemic discussion boards. In BallyPhilly, you can share your Ireland photos and favorite Irish YouTube videos, or start an online group where you and others can meet to share information about your favorite Irish interest, hobby or passion—dance, history, language, food, travel, pubs, politics, poetry, Celtic spirituality, art, theatre, whatever. You can post your favorite tunes. You can even launch your very own blog and impress us all with your literary flair. (Just like me. I write good. I write real good.)

We created BallyPhilly just a week ago and already there are 40 local folks wandering about the streets of our virtual Irish town. (Ten more, and we’ll have to open a Starbucks.)

It costs nothing to join. Come join the fun at BallyPhilly.

Annamarie, Thanks for your

Annamarie, Thanks for your suggestion. I was trying to avoid the packaged tour. We want to visit Mayo where my grandparents are from and stay in Galway a few nights and then go down to Kerry and Clare and mayve rent a cattage for the family. We've decided to go in September so I might check back for some ideas from you.

  I have changed out

I have changed out itinerary to September and I have seen fares in the 600-700 range which is better than the Summer rates. Thank you for responding. Your tour looks great. Can you keep me on your mailing list or email list? I'd really appreciate it. It's the first trip for some of my family members and they want to go to County Mayo, and Ballina in particular where my grandparents were born.

It's a shame, you just

It's a shame, you just missed a good sale on Aer Lingus to Shannon for the summer.  It ended April 30th and I was able to get a ticket for July for a little over $600 (still more than I've ever paid before).  I don't think you will find any good fares this summer with the economy and the price of fuel.  You might want to consider going off-season.  The fall is still very nice in Ireland weather-wise, less touristy, etc.  I am running a tour to Kenmae, Co. Kerry and Kinsale, Co. Cork in October with a very good price for six days and nights.  You can find details on my website:  www.tradtours.com.  I take tours over every year with an emphasis on cultural touring and music if you are into either of these.  They're not your typical tour because we spend a few nights in each location which allows folks to know the area more thoroughly and to meet the locals in the evenings when we have our entertainment.  Let me know if you'd like more info.

Hi Bill

I don't know of any deals to Shannon.  I did pick up info on a trip sponsored by Donegal Square in Bethlehem but it flies into Dublin,    CIE Tours International has a lot of options flying into Shannon.  The website is HomeToIreland.com

I have been to Ireland twice so if you want any suggestions of places to go I would be glad to try and help.

Good Luck

Annamarie
